about

Zoë is an artist from Philadelphia, living and working in Oakland, California. She completed her undergraduate studies at St. Johns College in New Mexico, where she studied classical literature, philosophy and the history of math and science. After graduating, she participated in UC Berkeley’s IN(LAND) program, a certificate course in Landscape Architecture. Zoë uses her education to inform the content and material of her work.

‘My work is made as an attempt to find the core feeling of things. I have an instinct that the way something makes us feel is contained within that thing— that emotion is contained in the other and released upon recognition. My work is the culmination of pulling those hidden emotions out of my subject— whether it is a flower drooping in the sun or a smile appearing on a face.’
