ZOË JANE BRADY
about
about
Zoë is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Oakland, California. Her work attempts to capture the feeling of smallness and awe amidst the vast beauty and pain of life. Drawing on classical literature, mythology, and spiritualism, she sees these traditions as ways of making sense of the complexities of our existence—our feelings of love, hate, hope and despair in relation to the other, to the world.
Education:
BA, St. Johns College, Santa Fe, NM. Majors in Classical Literature & Philosophy, Minor in History of Math and Science.
Graduate Certificate, UC Berkeley. Landscape Architecture.
‘My work is made as an attempt to find the core feeling of things. I have an instinct that the way something makes us feel is contained within that thing— that emotion is contained in the other and released upon recognition. My work is the culmination of pulling those hidden emotions out of my subject— whether it is a flower drooping in the sun or a smile appearing on a face.’
